Chapter 8

Dillon was busy checking on the stock of various tea leaves in the kitchen when he heard the faint knocking sound on the door. He couldn’t see through the walls or any solid objects. He couldn’t sniff out the scent of whoever was standing outside the entrance to his teahouse because he didn’t possess that kind of ability. However, he had a strong feeling about the identity of the visitor. Since Riordan was still asleep in the bedroom they shared upstairs, there could only be one person out there. After all, it wasn’t even seven o’clock yet. Dillon grinned when he eventually answered the door. His guess was accurate.

“Hey, Darby.”

Darby beamed widely at Dillon. He looked so happy, it reminded Dillon of an eager puppy sticking its tongue out and wagging its tail nonstop.

“Hey!” Darby greeted. “I know we’re supposed to meet at eight, but I woke up at four, and I couldn’t get back to sleep. I did some exercises in my bedroom and jogged around the pack land with some of the other wolves. When I finished, it was only a quarter past six. Then I showered, and I thought I could wait patiently in my bedroom, but I couldn’t. So, here I am. I hope it’s okay.”

Dillon chuckled, feeling amused by Darby’s rambling, and hugged his werewolf soul mate tightly. “It’s fine. You never need an excuse to stop by.”

He felt Darby relax in his embrace. He had no idea why Darby was nervous about visiting him and Riordan.

“Thank you.”

Dillon moved back slightly and smiled at Darby. “You’re welcome. Come in. I haven’t cooked breakfast yet. You can help me if you like.”

Darby nodded. “Just tell me what to do.”

“All right then. Let’s go.”

After that, the two of them headed back into the kitchen, and for the next several minutes, they kept busy. Dillon steeped the tea leaves, but every few seconds, he would steal glances at Darby who was frying some eggs and sausages. There was something sexy about a gigantic, muscular man like Darby who was obviously very comfortable in the kitchen.

“If you continue to stare at me like that, I’ll have to charge you a fee.”

Dillon felt strangely shy when Darby then smirked at him. “What’s the fee?”

“For every second you ogle me, you have to pay me with a kiss on the lips.”

Dillon chortled and obliged. He pressed his lips against Darby’s for several seconds before breaking away.

“Satisfied?”

“For now.”

Dillon was about to retort when he noticed Riordan walking down the steps of the staircases from the second floor. Then Riordan approached and gave him a passionate kiss that lasted for quite a while before doing the same to Darby.

“Good morning, babes. What’s for breakfast?”

Dillon was used to the term of endearment, but Darby wasn’t. However, Darby appeared delighted upon hearing it. He also blushed a little. Dillon thought that was the most adorable reaction ever.

“Ask Dillon. He’s the chef,” Darby replied.

Riordan arched his left eyebrow at Dillon. “Babe?”

Dillon cocked his head at the sausages and eggs on the frying pan.
